On 12th August, at the 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM), Mukesh Ambani, the MD of Reliance Industries Limited, finally announced to launch Jio GigaFiber.
It is a broadband service in India that it has been testing from the last two years.

It is not only a broadband service, which offers high-speed internet, but it is also going to transform Indian homes with many smart devices.
Along with fast internet connection provided via a Router, users would also be able to opt for a hybrid STB (this is how it looks) that can turn any LED or LCD TV with HDMI slot into a smart TV.
Users would be able to watch TV channels provided by local cable operators (lco) like Hathway, Den, etc., as well as access OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Jio Cinema to stream content on your big screen TV.

The Jio GigaFiber plans are starting from Rs 699 and going as high as Rs 8499/-.
All the plans are exclusive of taxes, which means additional GST will be applied to the plans.
Extra GBs (mentioned as + x GB) will be given for 6 months as an introductory offer.
Users who are already using JioFiber under beta test will continue using it for free until Jio representatives get in touch to explain the details in person. It might take a month or two, which means two more months of free Internet.
Fine details would be available on 5th September, but here are a few things we know so far.
The Rs 699 plan would be a Combo plan which would be offering and Mbps of speed, along with 100 GB of high-speed data under fair usage policy (FUP).
The same plan was allotted to the beta users, who opted for the Jio GigaFiber connection on their website.
A one-time refundable deposit of Rs 4500 was charged for the installation of Jio GigaFiber.
Jio will be charing One Time Payment of Rs 2500, out of which Rs 1000 would be non-refundable.
Along with that, users will be getting a landline number, which we can use to make unlimited calls to landline or mobile phones all over India.
There would be a higher plan also available, which will offer the Hybrid STB, that gives access to all the TV channels along with a dozen of streaming services.
As per official plans, all the plans starting from Rs 699, will be getting Hybrid STBs for TV Calling (Video Conference on TV), and Gaming.
They would be different plans to increase the internet speed since Jio plans to offer up to 1Gbps of internet speed that would be available in higher plans, available for Rs 3999 onwards.

All the six plans are available under the Jio Forever Plan, with different offers.

How to apply for the Jio GigaFiber connection
Users who are interested in applying for Jio GigaFiber connection would be able to do so from the Jio.com website.
By filling in a form which asks for the full name and contact details (Mobile number & Email) so that the Jio representative can get in touch with you.
Installation Charges and Documents required
If one-time a refundable deposit would be charged, it would most likely be Rs 4500. It would either be charged via cheque or debit card, no cash.
There would be no initial charges for the plans. It is speculated that Jio would be offering the first two months of free internet usage, under their Welcome Offer.
Users would have to submit if photo-id and address proof. If the address is same as on the Aadhar Card, it will work as both the address as well as photo ID proof.
