On 12th August, Mukesh Ambani, MD of Reliance, announced that the long-awaited Jio GigaFiber would be officially launching on 5th September.
Reliance had been testing the service from last one year with a small group of Beta testers who are given the broadband connection for free for a one-time refundable deposit of Rs 4500.
Under the beta test, users were able to activate 100 GB monthly data plan, and do a 40 GB booster recharge, when their used 100 GB monthly data limit.
The expiry of the monthly plan for every beta user has been updated in the My Jio app, and it now shows that the plans would expire on 5th September.
Along with that, there is a new update in the My Jio app, which allows the current Jio GigaFiber users to activate a landline number as well.
The router provided by Jio on a deposit of Rs 4500, already has an option to connect a landline phone.
Which means, after activating the landline number from My Jio app for the GigaFiber, users can connect their landlines to the router available.
Like the Jio four G, the Jio GigaFiber also offers unlimited calling, along with access to all the Jio apps.
Users can also install JioCall app from the App Store for iOS, and Play Store for Android, and configure it with the Jio GigaFiber landline number, to make and receive calls from mobile phones.
Users will be able to connect up to 6 devices and a landline phone to use the unlimited free calling offer by Jio GigaFiber landline.
At the Reliance Annual General Meeting (AGM), Mukesh Ambani announced that the Jio GigaFiber plans would start from Rs 700 per month and would go up to Rs 10000 per month.
The Rs 700 per month plan would likely be the same that is being used by the beta testers.
It offers 100Mbps combo plan, which gives 100 GB of data, unlimited calling all over India from the landline, and access to all the Jio content apps.
