You may have observed one thing about iPhone owners. The majority of the people do not change their ringtones and set it to default. Although they are a bunch of ringtones available.

Part of the reason is that almost all the ringtones available on the iPhone pretty basic. So people do not bother about changing it.

Some people, who like to personalized there iPhone, the first step is to set a custom ringtone. Which you can do by purchasing a ringtone from the iTunes store.

But not everyone is interested in spending money on something, which is so easy to set on Android smartphones.

The reason is it is not easy to set a custom ringtone on iPhone on your own without purchasing it. The iPhone owners from 5 years ago know the challenge of setting up a custom ringtone by doing a sync with iTunes on a computer.

Some people still think that this is the only way to set a custom ringtone if you do not want to purchase it. Fortunately, there is a way you can set a custom ringtone without requiring a computer.

How to set custom ringtone on any iPhone

To set a custom ringtone on your iPhone you would require apps mainly.

Both apps are available for free on the App Store. GarageBand is is created by Apple, so so it is also ad-free.

The Ringtone Maker is also free, but it is supported by ads. So, you will come across ads when you are inside the app. If you want to get rid of Ads, you can disable it by paying $1.

Download your ringtone or the song

. It could be a part of a song. You can do a Google search with this ringtone you want to use, or do a Google search for the song followed by term ringtone.

It’s not tough to find the ringtone of your choice these days. Once you come across a website that has your ringtone you can download it. Don’t worry about the format, it could be MP3, MP4, M4R, just download it on your iPhone.

If you use the Safari Browser, save the downloaded file in the Download folder in iCloud Folder. Use the ‘Files’ app on your iPhone to browse the file.

Create your custom ringtone on iPhone

Assuming that you have downloaded the file on your iPhone, open Ringtone Maker, skip the ad if you come across any, and then tap on the plus icon.

Navigate where the file has been saved on your iPhone and imported into ringtone maker. If it is a song you can tampon clip to set the starting and endpoint. Once you are done you can tap on ‘Done’ on the top right.

Tap on ‘Make’ and share a popup would appear. Scroll to the left to find the GarageBand icon, and tap on it. This action will open the file as a GarageBand project.

Once the project file is created in the GarageBand long press on it, and then scroll down a bit to tap on Share.

Another screen would appear where you have to select ‘Ringtone’. Once the new window appears, it will show you a warning about the length of the ringtone you can set.

Tap on okay to get rid of it. On this screen, you have the option to rename the ringtone if you want and then continue to export this sound clip as Ringtone by tapping on ‘Export’ on top right.

The audio clip will be exported in a few seconds and a popup will appear that will ask you to use the audio clip as a standard ringtone, or ringtone for text, or a ringtone for a particular contact.

You can tap on the standard ringtone, and your custom ringtone is set.
