Xioami held an event in China today (August 29th), and launched a couple of products under the Redmi brand.

Apart from launching the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro, it also launched a Redmi Notebook and Redmi TV.

Let’s talk about what’s the deal with the 70-inch Redmi TV that was launched today.

Redmi has been Xiaomi’s sub-brand, that brought products in the budget and mid-range category.

It has been pretty successful at that, especially in India, where the Redmi Note 7 is the most sold smartphone of the year.

In today’s event, we witnessed that Redmi is foraying into other categories apart from Smartphones, starting Laptops, and TVs.

The 70-inch smart TV is the first product they have launched under Redmi branding and their directly calling it Redmi TV 70.

The 70-inch TV is also priced quite aggressively, as it starts at just 3799 Yuan (roughly converted to $530/ Rs 3800).

Specifications of the Redmi TV 70

The 70-inch redmi TV has 4K LED panel with a screen resolution of 3840X2160 pixels, HDR 10, and viewing angle of 178 degrees.

It has got minimum bezels and can be mounted on a wall.

Letv is powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core 64-bit Amologic Cortex A53 processor with 750 MHz Mali 450MP3 GPU, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

As about the connectivity, the TV has Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz), 3 HDMI and 2 USB ports. The remote that comes with is Bluetooth based and has voice controls for quick access.

The TV has got other features, like Dolby Audio, and DTS HD supports all the major video formats. It also runs Xiaomi’s PatchWall, which is the same operating system used on Mi TV 4 series in India.

The Redmi TV 70 will be available to buy in China starting on September 10th, and it is not sure when it will be coming to India.

Xiaomi already has got a lineup of smart TVs under the Mi Series in the market, and their largest screen available is 55-inch TV, which is available at a price of around Rs 48000.

It will be interesting to find at what price the Redmi TV 70 would be launching in India. We are not sure if the company would be able to launch it under Rs 40000.

But even if it manages to launch the tv under Rs 50000, it would be a fantastic price and probably the cheapest 70 inch TV you can buy.

Currently, Samsung is offering a 70-inch smart TV that is priced somewhere around Rs 2.47 lakh.

Smart TV’s from Samsung and LG might have more features to offer, but the majority of the people are looking for a bigger screen.

They are not bothered about the extra features these brands have to offer.

Another smartphone manufacturer, OnePlus, is also gearing up to bring their OnePlus TV. It would probably be available in India by the next month (September)

So if you are looking for buying a smart TV, we would suggest you should rather wait. At least, till October when the Diwali season is around, and all the e-commerce for brick and mortar stores start offering discounts.
