So I use a full HD monitor as an external monitor with my MacBook Pro. And somehow space feels like a bit too less. And it’s been quite some time I am looking to upgrade to a 4K monitor so that I could have some extra screen real estate.
But before doing that, dI figured out a workaround that lets me use qHd resolution on my full HD monitor.
Check out the answer section to know more about it.
I came across this app called SwitchRes X, which is available for Mac OS, and what it does is that it gives you a lot of options to select the resolution on your MacBook.
Natively, the Macbook does offer an option to change screen resolution but it is only limited to a few options. When you go to the display settings from the system preferences, you can find that there are only a handful of options available.
But when you install SwitchRes X, you can access the app from the system preferences, and you get a bunch of options that are not available natively.
The great thing is that it also, so I’ll ask you to change the resolution on an external monitor if you connect it to your MacBook.
I have a full HD LG Monitor, and here are the number of options that this app gives me. Although it also gives me 4K resolution but then the text it is too small to read and the shortness of the texts is also gone.
I found the qHD resolution (2560×1440) good for me on my 24 inches full HD monitor.
The text becomes a little less crispy but it’s ok a for me as I am getting a little extra screen real state which is pretty helpful in productivity.
