So here is the weird news of today, well the news actually from the last month, The Guardian, a news website, disclosed exactly a month ago that Apple employees consistently listened to and graded Siri recordings which are intended to be private.
It included sensitive things like medical information, drug deals, and even records of couples making out.
What’s going on at Apple?
Apparently, Apple has given the job to Globetech, which is a contractor of Apple. The employees were assigned to listen to the conversations.
In the conversation, mostly the users with Canadian, Australia, or UK accents were heard, and there was also a smaller team working on users with European languages.
The employees need to transcribe and grade the records to see how well Siri is performing when it is triggered, and whether or not users are happy with Siri’s responses.
While Apple may be trying to improve their smart assistant by any means, it breaches the user privacy, a topic for which Apple keeps beating the drum every time Google is in the center of a controversy related it.
However, it isn’t sure that Apple is the only company that is using these techniques to improve their smart assistant because Amazon and Google also have got smart devices in the homes of millions of people.
And there have been instances in the past that their (Google’s & Amazon’s) smart devices were listening to the conversations happening and there is a possibility that employees of these companies also would be listening to these conversations as well.
However convenient these devices maybe it’s quite creepy to have it heard year in your private space that can potentially broadcast your private conversations to the entire world.
How it suggest you should I rather stay away from these smart devices and put your smartphones on airplane mode if you are looking to do something Private or intimate.
